Our Impact
The families arriving at St. Mary’s Center have histories of living in communities without access to Social Determinants of Health. Given that women and children make up
70% of all people living in poverty in the US and Boston has one of the highest rental markets in the country, it is no surprise that
more than 500 women, children and families receive critical services each year from St. Mary’s Center. The vast majority (95%) of residents are women and children of color, ranging in age from birth to sixty years old.
100% of St. Mary’s Center families have a history of trauma. As our team of highly skilled professionals provide an integrated model of care to build trust and meet each family’s unique needs, women regularly self-report histories of substance use and/or neglect, mental health disorders, immigration challenges and fleeing domestic violence.
